Women’s Pennant Started
Posted on: 27 April
The GMGA Women’s Individual Pennant Season commenced on Monday 2O April for Divisions One and Two.
This year the District has organised the pennant competition for four divisions. Divisions One, Two and Three are playing traditional “home and away” individual matches and another Division of virtual/play at home pennant has been arranged.
GMGA President Bev Hutchins stated “it is good to get the season started after a review and much discussion about change after the District’s AGM last October. Easter caused a delay in organisation and the ANZAC Day public holiday in NSW necessitated a general bye on 27 April”.
After the hard work of organisation, Events Coordinator, Di Wood added: “Hopefully all will run smoothly now”.
While it would have been good to get more teams playing traditional pennant, it seems that travel and uncertainty surrounding the fuel crisis impacted on the thoughts of many players.
The virtual pennant will allow a few teams to play at home and record their stableford score which will be used as the scoring mechanism down the team sheet in place of real match play.
Let’s all hope for a great pennant season and some very close finals which will be played at Hill Top Tatura on Monday 1 June 2026.
