Rising from the floods
Nearly two years to the day since the inundation of the 2022 floods and with the Kialla Golf Club clubhouse back in action the Goulburn Murray Golf Association (GMGA) organised a huge event titled Rising from the floods, as a fund raiser to help the Kialla Club.
The GMGA provided all the prizes and an on-course barbecue to keep the players energised throughout the event. What a great day it was!! With over 100 golfers playing in the stableford fourball event with Men, Women’s and Mixed sections all the buzz in the clubhouse at afternoon tea was complimentary about the enjoyment of the competition. The thanks from Kialla officials spearheaded by Vice President Brian Reiners described the impact of the flood and highlighted what the event meant to them in terms of financial gain, a large field and wonderful social atmosphere.

GMGA Secretary David Roberts spoke about the build up for the event which originated from an idea of Treasurer Alex Howson that GMGA could do something to help the Kialla club which suffered so much from the flood. Both Kialla and GMGA officials thanked the players for participating and helping achieve the aim of the day.
GMGA President Alexandra Odell joined Kialla Captain Ross Campbell to conduct the golf presentations which saw many players happy to receive acknowledgement of their golfing achievements. President Odell reiterated thanks to all players and added recognition of what a truly great event it was with golfers from many clubs participating in the spirit of helping Killa GC.
For the record the winners of the women’s section were GMGA President herself Alexandra Odell partnered by one of her District junior group Indianah Baumann with a score of 42 points. In addition to the great win, this was also seen as recognition for Alexandra for all the work she does with junior golfers in our District. Indianah capped off her day with a win of first prize in the raffle.
