Invitation for all GMGA Members to Enter 4 Ball Summer Sunday Pennant 2021

Posted on: 20 November

Attention all GMGA Clubs & Members- FYI,

At the AGM of the GMGA held on Tuesday 17 November the strong weight of opinion was to try to play normal match play pennant in the best and safest way given Covid 19 concerns.  After much consideration, we are offering both “normal match play” and “play at home virtual”.   Preference will be stated on Team entry sheet.

Based on the AGM decisions our aim will be to organise normal pennant with the proviso that if Covid 19 restrictions “come back” or impact the competition it will resort to “play at home virtual pennant”.   We offer virtual pennant to see if there is interest as it may entice more people to play.    There are also questions and concerns about how to deal with catering.

It is hoped that the Pennant Season will start on Sunday 3 January with the final likely to be towards the end of February with a weekend off for Australia Day Weekend.   All depending on number of teams entered.   Start times may vary depending on home and away or a few teams at one venue.

The 4 Ball Summer Sunday Pennant Competition 2021 is open to Men’s and Women’s teams from GMGA Clubs.  Five pair for men; Three pair for women; per team. All players who will represent a club must have played at least six (three sandscrape) individual games at their club in the past twelve months.    Random checks will take place,  and in addition,

Based on previous years the pennant is likely to be roughly on east and west Divisions, and depending on restrictions it could be more “home and away” alternate Sundays rather than have all of a Division at one venue.  If this is the case it will impact on your course availability.

Clubs can enter more than one team in Match Play or Virtual.  Any club that has members who wish to play but cannot get a team please let the Captains know.  Composite teams help to enable as many people as possible from different clubs to play.

I look forward to a great response from Members and Clubs to participate in this season’s pennant competition.

Yours Sincerely

David Roberts
