Juniors bring it home

Posted on: 30 November

Junior Golfers from six different GMGA Clubs are playing in Victorian Play at Home Pennant.  Ten participants play each week at their home or another District Club and score stableford points with the six best scores to count for the team.

After the first three weeks of competition GMGA were on top of the ladder of their Region.  Week Four was played over the weekend of 28 -29 November when GMGA took on Royal Melbourne Blue. Wow we did well.  Our best team score, one better than the previous week.  Consistent scoring in a tough weekend for golf.  A couple were able to get out very early Saturday.  Special thanks to those Clubs and individuals who helped arrange comps and play on Sunday

Our best six scores for the last round were James Ralph 32, Hudson Storer 38, Jacob Cartwright 38, Casey Chandler 35, Alex Booth 35, and Kohen Haddrell 38 for a team score of 216. Against this the Royal Melbourne Blue team scored 200 points; therefore giving GMGA the win and the fourth win in a row.

The GMGA Junior team maintained top spot on the ladder and although they have the bye next week, all the other teams in their Region have been defeated and so GMGA cannot lose top spot.    The ladder from Golf Australia can be found under Junior Golf on our website

Congratulations to the 13 juniors who have taken part in the competition:  Ryan Ezard (Nagambie), James Ralph (Mooroopna), Hudson Storer (Numurkah), Joshua and Jacob Cartwright (Ky Parkland), Casey Chandler, Sam Trembath, Kohen Haddrill, (Cobram-Barooga), Olivia Thompson, Alex Booth, Charley McKenna, Sam Bakes, Liam Purtill (Tocumwal)

Thanks to the players and their clubs for their support, cooperation and for giving the juniors the chance to participate.   Celebrations early in the New Year!!!

Next week six players (low handicaps) from our District along with eight others from North East and Dalhousie Districts have been selected to play in the Junior Regions Tournament at Ballarat

From GMGA the players are Casey Chandler, Olivia Thompson, Bailey Goodall, Charley McKenna, James Ralph, and Liam Purtill
