Sunday 4 Ball Pennant Update

Posted on: 20 January

For the sake of the argument let’s call it the “half way mark”.  Two rounds to go for the men.  One round for the women before the finals; as we go into the Australia Day Weekend rest.

In the Women’s Pool Cobram-Barooga are showing very strong form with two wins from two starts and with a big three zero win over Tocumwal in the last round.  Both Mooroopna and Tocumwal are on one win, one draw and one loss, with Mooroopna in second spot with a higher individual match win score.   The crunch comes next round when Mooroopna and Tocumwal clash on Tocumwal’s home turf.  This could be the match that decides who gets to play in the final.

In the Men’s East Pool Tallygaroopna-Cosgrove remain undefeated with three wins just ahead of Mooroopna with two wins and one draw.  The excitement looms as these two top teams play each other at Hill Top Tatura in the next round.  Numurkah, after a slow start are hitting their straps and may influence how the rest of the ladder is finalised.

The Men’s West Pool is a little more open, with Hill Top Red on top with two wins and one draw ahead of Kyabram Valley View with one win, one draw and one loss.  Hill Top play Rushworth at Valley View in the next round and need to be on their game as Rushy has proved to be a stumbling block for Hill Top in past pennant competitions.  Valley View have the bye next round and Hill Top has the bye in the last round.   The gate may be open for Merrigum to finish in a rush.
