Day One 30 September 2019 Huntingdale Golf Club
Day one did not get off to the best start this morning when both men and women teams were defeated in cold blustery conditions
The Men played South Western District and lost 4 matches to three.
Nick Ludington lead the team away and played steady golf went all the way but lost 1 down. Blair Christie suffered a -8/6 defeat. Matt Miller shone with a 3/1 victory from a very solid game being up all match. Daniel Adem was down early but came through with a 2/1 win. Andrew Storer battled hard until succumbing -2/1. Matt Sellers played a very strong game of to win 4/2. Caleb Bovalina could not take control and lost -4/2.
The Women played Golf Peninsula and went down 5 matches to two.
Sandy Millet lost on the last hole. Maxine Sadler had a real battle but lost 3/2. Tracey Clouston played a few very uncharacteristic shots and was defeated -5/3. Both Rowena Wallace and Alex Radevski lost on the 18th. Steffi Vogel was the star of the morning with a huge 6/5 victory over Peninsula’s number one gun.
In the afternoon the wind did not get any warmer when the men took on Golf Peninsula and the women played Golf Central
Jordy Geisler led the men away and had a hard game but finally lost 2 down. Nick Ludington stuck to his guns and came home with a 2/1 win. Matt Miller starred again with a 5/4 win, followed by Daniel Adem with a 2/1 victory. Andrew Storer was down all day against a huge hitting opponent and showed real grit to battle on and achieved a squared match with much help from his young son Hudson caddying. Matt Sellers was his steady self to win 2/1 and Caleb Bovalina proved that you cannot keep a quality player down and with a real Captain’s effort won 4/3. Yay a five and a half to one and half victory to GMGA.
In the women’s contest against Central District it was in the balance all the time and finished in a dead heat!!
Sandy Millett lost 2 down. Maxine Saddler came home with a 3/2 win and Tracy Clouston reversed her morning form to win 4/3. Rowena Wallace again unlucky to go 1 down. Alex Radevski halfed her match. Kim Morris lost 2 down and Steffi Vogel charged again to win 5/4.
Both teams have a bye Tuesday morning before heading to Cranbourne for their contests in the afternoon.
