Scene Set For Great Pennant Finals

Posted on: 22 July

The last round and “home and away” matches were played on Sunday (21/7) and the top two teams in each Pennant Division have been determined.  Some by dominant wins all season.  Others by the narrowest of margins.   The scene is set for some great finals to be played at Numurkah Golf Club Sunday 28 July starting at 8am.   The summary is below followed by the draw.

Division Six

Shepparton went through undefeated with a very experienced team of good golfers. Mooroopna secured second place with a strong win over Hill Top.  When the finalists met in Round One Shepparton got home with a 3/2 win.

Division Five

Cobram-Barooga have gone through undefeated and as suggested last week they defeated Mooroopna at Shepparton, while Merrigum had a strong win over Valley View to take second place. Cobram-Barooga and Merrigum met in Round Two when Cobram- Barooga won 3/2.

Division Four

Kialla have dominated and at home boosted their confidence with a 4/1 win over Tocumwal at home.  However, Tocumwal has held second spot by the skin of their teeth.  Tocumwal and Mooroopna both finished on the same points with 3 wins and 2 losses and the same match wins.  However, Tocumwal scored a higher induvial match win total of 44 to Mooroopna’s 42.  Tocumwal should thank their young gun who stormed home 8/7 against his Shepparton rival a few weeks ago.

Division Three

In this Division Valley View have dominated and also gave themselves a confidence boost with a 5/0 win over second placed Cobram-Barooga.  Valley View had the advantage of a home game and pundits are asking can they repeat the result at the Numurkah course.   Numurkah were a bit unlucky to finish third with a couple of less match points than Cobram-Barooga.

Women’s Division

The battles of the last round saw Cobram-Barooga holding top spot from their big win over Tocumwal. Shepparton and Mooroopna played out a draw which allowed Shepparton to take second spot with a better match win loss ratio.  Cobram-Barooga versus Shepparton clash in the final.  When these two teams met in Round Two it was Shepparton who came away with a 3/2 win.

Division Two

Cobram-Barooga were good enough to defeat Numurkah in the last round to hold second place, while Mooroopna at home managed their first win for the season over top team Shepparton. The final will see the clash of Shepparton and Cobram-Barooga, the same clubs as the Women’s final.

Division One

The top two teams Numurkah and Shepparton played each other at Cobram-Barooga in the last round and Numurkah registered a huge 4/1 win in what must be a real confidence booster for them to meet the same team on their home turf in the final.
