Joyce Broadbent Shield Winners

Posted on: 25 April

A beautiful day, a well-presented course and great lunch was the golfing environment for the 2023 GMGA Women’s Teams Event Joyce Broadbent Shield played at Numurkah Friday 21 April.

In keeping with the last couple of years (Tocumwal and Hill Top) the GMGA event was played in conjunction with the Numurkah Glynwamr Salver and home ground may have helped the winning Numurkah Team of Jenny Ludington, Deb Cairns and Jill Wilson who won both events, and happily displayed their bounty, with a total score of 102 Stableford Points.

Winners are grinners!

Runners up were a Shepparton GC Team of Sue Lowe, Cathie Barbetti and Chris Hall with 95 points.

At presentations both Numurkah Captain Julie Hannaford and GMGA Captain Mandy Faram spoke about the golfing careers of Joyce Broadbent and Numurkah Life Member Faye Powell who donated the Joyce Broadbent Shield in 1972, to add some very re4levant and appropriate information for the players of this long-standing traditional event.

GMGA Secretary David Roberts gave a gift of three GMGA hat clip ball markers to the team of Leanne Carmody, Val Ellis and Marilyn Pane from Jubilee GC as the best team score from a non-GMGA Club.

The GMGA Executive and all players gave big thanks to Julie Hannaford and her helpers for the organisation and hospitality of the day.   Well done Numurkah GC
