All Set for Golf Pennant Finals

The last round of the “home and away” inter-club pennant season was held on Sunday; with matches played at Hill Top Tatura and Numurkah Golf Clubs.

In the Women’s section Numurkah had a 2/1 win over Hill Top to secure second spot on the ladder.

In the Men’s Section Kyabram Valley View defeated Shepparton 4/1 with a big win to Michael and Dylan Gallivan. Numurkah notched their first win of the season over Kialla-Cosgrove and Hill Top defeated Merrigum-Rushworth to retain top spot on the ladder.

This coming Sunday (26 February) the finals will be played at Numurkah where Numurkah women playing on their own turf will take on the undefeated Shepparton team. Although Shepparton are undefeated this is a hard contest to predict an outcome.  Shepparton have shaken at a final a couple of years ago and Numurkah will be very keen at their own course.

For the men it will be Hill Top versus Valley View.  Both teams have recorded five wins from six matches, with Hill Top taking top position with a slightly better win/loss ratio in the games played. Again, the outcome of this contest is very hard to predict.  It could go either way as each team tries to get the minimum of three wins from the five pairs that make up the team.   Craig Larcombe, the weekly news reporter for Valley View has reminded his colleagues that their loss during the season was to Hill Top.  Is this some form of omen?

Best wishes to all four4 teams for some great Fourball matches played in true golfing spirit.
