Ludington Super Round
Posted on: 11 December
In the round of Super League sponsored by The Hot and Cold Shop and Tri Star Fencing played at Shepparton GC on Sunday 11 December some of the best male golfers of the District did battle for scratch score honours.
There were two Divisions based on a 50% handicap split with A being better than 3.5 and B between 3.5 to 7.
In A Division a count back was required to separate Nick Lundington (Numurkah) and Matt Miller (Hill Top) who both scored 3 under the card 69s. Nick prevailed thanks to his great back nine. Mitch Grandell (Numurkah) finished third with a 74.
In B Division John Thompson (Tocumwal) won with a 75 ahead of Mick Barca (Mooroopna) 76 and James Faram (Shepparton) 78.
Overall very good scoring in the windy conditions and good to see scores and prizes shared by players from a variety of clubs. Net scores are not awarded on day events but will accumulate for the annual prize. Great to see junior Liam Purtill improving his handicap and competing which will surely help his golf development.
Nearest the pins went to Mick Barca 5th 160cms Nick Lundington 17th 215cms
Mitch Grandell will now complete the computer work for the annual Order of Merit for both scratch and net scores.
At presentations GMGA President David Roberts thanked Shepparton GC for hosting the event and the players for their support. Organiser Andrew Storer added thanks to the Sponsors and suggested a less time scheduled structure for the next Super league event at Hill Top on Sunday 12 February 2023
