Spring Showdown Week Eight
Posted on: 10 January
The Christmas break is over and we were a bit sluggish getting back into the scores for week eight. However, we have made it. Happy New Year everyone; we are back into it. Coins from Tocumwal have strengthened their lead going from a five point buffer at the break to a 12 point margin now. If Coins keep this up they will be hard to toss!!!!
The main changes toward the top of the ladder are that the two Shepparton teams Blue and Gold have eased out the Rich River Misfits as we move into the last two weeks of the Showdown. A closer examination reveals the 12 point lead to Coins and then there is only seven points between second to sixth places on the ladder. Most weeks see a range of about 30 points between the best and worst team scores, so there is still a chance that ladder positions can change easily.
Covid Busters from Kialla put in a wonderful week with the best team score of week eight of 185 to jump from 15th to 12th and put a bit of space between them and the other Kialla teams.
The best individual scorers for week eight were Marg Murphy amongst the women with a fantastic 40 points for Tocumwal Triers. Shereen Moore Shepp Blue registered 39 points and Sue Lowe from Nathalia and Barb Reiners of Kialla Covid Busters both scored 38 points for their teams. In the men it was Ron Popple from Hill Top Bunkers with 40 points, with the consistent Steve Harding Shepp Birdie Hunters and Allan Farrell Kialla Covid Busters both registering 39 points.
Two weeks to go….. Round nine could be very interesting and very important.
