Spring Showdown Week Six
Posted on: 13 December
Week six, the first week of the second half of the season. During the week I have followed to Australia PGA Associates (trainees) tournament at Rich River. Congratulations to Rich River on such a great tournament which was highlighted by two holes in one. One of these from Cobram-Barooga’s Steffi Vogel, who had the best female score of the tournament. Rich River’s Cooper Gentle finished 22nd in the men — many more of the field below him than above, so another great effort.
I hear you say, what has this got to do with our Showdown competition? Most of the write up information about the Associates Tournament informed us about the tough windy conditions and hard going at Rich River… then the Showdown scores arrive …. and Pros and Cons submit 194 with Ken Drill shooting 43 points for the best men’s score and Misfits Brian Suffolk 42 points. Ben Patten, in the pro shop at Rich River, and a member of Pros and Cons Team, I think it’s time I came up to measure the course!!!!
Now check the ladder, Coins (Tocumwal) have had another good week to take top spot thanks to Jill Collins with best female score of 39 points and Murray Chapman 40 points. Five of the top six teams are from our Member Clubs in NSW. It would seem that scoring is easier if your course is watered from the Murray River than from the Goulburn River.
Last week’s report stated that Nathalia was jumping – correct they are off the bottom of the ladder and Sue Lowe will be smiling.
Best of luck for Week seven, the last week before our break.
