Spring Showdown Week Three
Posted on: 24 November
The results of the Showdown saw better scoring this week than in week two, with 12 teams recording better scores than the previous week.
Pros and Cons (Rich River) had the best week with 189 points just ahead of Shepp Gold 186 and Birdie Hunters 185. A look at the Ladder reveals the consistency of Shepp Gold and look at the bunching of teams from different clubs. Someone will have to think of a way to “nobble” or “sabotage” the Shepparton and Rich River teams in the coming weeks.
Some highlights of the week Covid Busters (Kialla) had five players all record 31 points. Birdie Hunters (Shepparton) team score was from two families Faram and Harding. And for the Faram family, Mandy, David and James all recorded 38 points.
The best individual scores for the week were recorded by Sue Jenkinson (Hookers and Slicers) with 40 points — obviously Sue did not play like her team name!! Julie Penny (Coins) and Josie Kirkman (Holey Moley), and Ingrid Cockcroft (Hookers and Slicers) registered 39 points.
For the men: Doug Packnee (Coins) 40 points, as did Ben Patten (Pros and Cons) [hard for organiser to believe Ben!!] and believe it or not so did Showdown organiser David Roberts!!
Given that the organiser can’t win a prize he had better find prizes for Sue. Doug and Ben for their 40 points.
Two more weeks to go and we are half way. Then two more weeks until the Christmas break.
