GMGA Pennant Update

Posted on: 12 July

The season is getting to the exciting time with one round to go for most divisions before the top two teams in each Division play off.

In the Women’s Division Tocumwal def Cobram-Barooga 3/2.  Shepparton Blue def Shepparton Gold 3/2. The Blues giving the Golds their first defeat.  However Gold hold onto top spot and will play Tocumwal in the final on 25 July.  The Women have the Country Championships next weekend so no pennant matches to be played.

In Division One played at Mooroopna where the big guns of Shepparton flexed their muscles over Tocumwal with a 5/0 win; but great to see Toc persist to field a side in Division One.  Numurkah def Mooroopna 4/1.  Numurkah and Shepparton share equal points for top spot and play each other this coming weekend which will be a sample for the final.

Division Two played at Shepparton where the two home teams battled for clubhouse bragging rights. It was Blue who came away with a convincing 5/0 win although individual matches to the 19th and 22nd holes were required for a result.  Hill Top def Cobram-Barooga 4/1.  Hill Top are likely to retain top spot with Shepp Blue, Numurkah and Cobram-Barooga all with a chance to grab second.

Division Three ventured to Valley View where the home team defeated Tocumwal 3/2. Hill Top def Numurkah 4/1 and Shepparton def Mooroopna 4/1.  Finals spots here are wide open with Shepp, Valley View and Tocumwal all with three wins from four matches.  Shepparton play Tocumwal this Sunday which will have impact on the final two.

Division Four played at Hill Top where Valley View def the home team 3/2.  Mooroopna def Cobram-Barooga 3/2 and Shepparton def Kialla 4/1.  Kialla are having a mixed season with a 5/0 loss, two 5/0 wins and now a 4/1 loss.  Some sort of sampling and testing required. Mooroopna are on top with three wins from four starts then a conglomeration of Hill Top, Cobram-Barooga, Kialla and Valley View all with two wins.  The charge will be on at Valley View next Sunday when Hill Top play Kialla and Cobram-Barooga face the home team.  Who will qualify for finals may come down to a major mathematical calculation.

Division Five was hosted by Mooroopna where Hill Top were not nice to their hosts and won 5/0. Shepparton def Merrigum 3/2 and Nagambie had their first win with 3/2 result over Ky Parkland.   Shepparton hold top spot with four wins from four matches followed by Hill Top with three wins.  Hill Top must defeat Nagambie at Ky Parkland next Sunday to hold with Merrigum and Mooroopna breathing down their neck.
