June winner of Visionary of the year Award

A HUGE congratulations is extended to Shepparton GC for winning the June Visionary of the Year Award.  In summary, the award is conducted Australia wide each month and the achievement by Shepparton is for “bringing women into the game in droves”.

The two main drivers. Lynley Eadie and Kim Morris developed the FUNdamental clinics for the Get into Golf program.  Of the 56 women who attended the clinics in December last year, 32 are now members of the Shepparton GC.   A women’s 9 hole Friday competition has also grown.

Lynley Eadie was inspired after attending the Even Par program as another step in being the Club’s Vision 2025 representative.  Kim Morris stated “I kind of appointed myself to look after the beginners” —- a pretty good effort from the Club Champion and one of the best players in the GMGA District.

While Lynley and Kim bask in some of the well-deserved accolades, it is also important to recognise the support provided by Club Manager Russell Powell who helped with the welcome to club and encouraged the social aspects.

In addition to the introductory lessons Lynley and Kim have provided back up support with phone calls and efforts to make the beginners welcomed and comfortable around the Club.

What a great achievement.  What a great example of what commitment and effort can do. Congratulations to all involved and enjoy the $500 Drummond Voucher prize.
