Country Teams Report Day 2

Posted on: 1 October

Day Two 1st October 2019 Cranbourne Golf Club

Day two opened with blue skies and warmer temperature.  A slower start because of the bye for both teams with combined women’s and men’s team breakfast before young Hudson Storer (son of Andrew) took control to organise a men’s team mini golf championship at the venue around the corner from the accommodation.

Men took on Ballarat District in what was seen as a major clash with Ballarat on top after two big wins on day one.

Blair Christie led the team out and reversed his form from the morning of day one to register a 4/3 win. Nick Ludington had a hard match and stick to his guns but went down -2/1.  Matt Miller continued with his strong form to win 5/4.  Daniel Adem very strong and got a few birdies going to win 6/4. Hudson Storer the leading caddy finally got his father across the line to register a 4/3 win for Andrew.  The great comeback of the day went to Matt Sellers who was one down for many holes and still one down after fifteen and then charged to win the last three holes for a 2 up victory.  Captain Caleb Bovalina in a match of class golf showed great composure to win 2/1.  A huge win to the boys.  Tomorrow we play Murray Darling at Victoria Golf Club where the winners will take home the flag.

The Women played East Gippsland

Let’s start with Felicity saves the day.   Next time you see Sandy Millett ask her if a golf cart can be driven through a gap of less width than the cart itself.  Don’t worry Felicity Booth was on hand with great driving skills to rectify the problem.

Sandy Millett led most of the round and won 3/2. Maxine Saddler came good after sorting after the bunkers for a 1 up win. Now in the “do you believe it” story Tracey Clouston registered a huge 9/8 victory.  Rowena Wallace very characteristically finished on the eighteenth but today with a 2 up win. Alex Radevski had a hard day to go down -6/4.  Kim Morris in a very tight match the whole round to win 1 up. Steffi Vogel continued her great form to win 8/6 and return to the clubhouse early.  A great 6/1 team victory

So tomorrow GMGA take on North East District.
