On the night of Friday 9 August 2019 nearly 300 people from throughout the Golf Industry gathered at the Pavilion Room of the Arts Centre in Melbourne for the Annual Golf Awards presentations.

GMGA Women’s Captain Annie Beveridge won the

Golf Australia-Victoria Volunteer of the Year.

Well done Annie!  The whole GMGA District salutes you!!

In her acceptance speech Annie thanked three families important to her.  Her personal family, especially husband Wallace.  Her family of golfers at Tocumwal GC and her GMGA family of Committee and players.

At the presentation night Annie was supported by a table of GMGA colleagues including her husband Wallis, daughter Maggie and her husband Rod Booth (Tocumwal Professional who was also nominated for a PGA Award for his innovative programs), Bobette Wilkinson, Tocumwal Captain, Mark Bamford and Megan Carr of Golf Australia – Victoria, Annette Pell GMGA Vice President and David Roberts GMGA President and his wife Bev. It was certainly a happy table when Annie’s award was announced.

It was the largest Awards Presentation evening since its inception, which involves the co-operation and presentations from Golf Australia-Victoria, the PGA and the Golf Managers Association.  Congratulations must go to Karen White of Golf Australia-Victoria and Chris Donovan PGA (former pro at Mooroopna) for their joint efforts of organisation.

The citation for Annie has been condensed as follows

Annie Beveridge has held the position of Captain of the Goulburn Murray Golf Association since its inception in 2017. She is a member of the Committee which led the amalgamation of the Women’s and Men’s Associations. She has been involved in golf since the age of ten.

AS District Captain Annie has contributed countless hours at events and meetings and manages all events after mastering the Golf box tournament program. She supported the introduction of the Weekend Women’s Pennant in 2018-19 enabling working women to participate in Pennant for the first time in the District’s history.  This enabled almost 60 women to compete and represent their clubs.

Annie accompanies the Country Week team to Melbourne and organises many aspects of the team’s involvement as non-playing Captain/Manager. She is a qualified Community Instructor and assists with juniors at her club when she can.

Congratulations to a great GMGA contributor.
