2016 GVDGA Junior Development Squad.


The GVDGA has begun a development program for Juniors in the district. It is aimed at Juniors, bu there is also some adult beginner classes on offer.
The full program is:

PURPOSE:  To engage and continue to develop junior golf in the district.  Bringing children from all over the district to share in their passion for golf and develop relationships among the children.

 

LOCATION & PROPOSED DATES

Rich River Golf Club  Sunday 17th April – ALREADY RUN – VERY SUCCESSFUL

Parkland Golf Club    Sunday 29th May – Junior Adult Day

Hill Top – Tatura Sunday 26th June 10am

Shepparton Golf Club  Sunday 3rd July

Numurkah TBC

Mooroopna Golf Club Sunday 28th August

FINAL DAY – Parkland Golf Club Sunday 18th Sept JUNIOR ADULT DAY

Junior Tournaments – Sept school holidays – Brochures to be sent out as they are finalized.

 

PROGRAM

Times may vary from Date to Date however generally they start at 930 or 10 am sharp. Children will be already put in groups as registration and forms already filled out, however if children turn up on the day will be put into age groups.

Club Professionals will conduct a clinic for approx. an hour.

Children will then play holes on the participating course if available, more holes played if no Professional.

Children will gather for lunch and for information session.

COST: $10 to $15 per week of program paid to club on the day, for coaching and lunch. Each Course may differ however not less than $10 per clinic.

Lunch for non golfing participants – parents $5 or at own expense from club bistro if avaialble.  Numbers required before the day.

GROUPS:  Age 7 + under – Scott Sensations

                    8-10  -  Day Dreamers

                   11+    -  Lee Legends

TRAVEL : Where a number of children are travelling we will endeavor to provide transport otherwise parent help is required. 10 or more children can warrant a bus.  Cost of bus to be paid for by Golf Victoria/District Grants.

COMMUNICATION:  Facebook page to be set up for communication purposes.

2016 Winter Pennant Draw and Bylaws.

The 2016 GVDGA Winter Pennant season will commence on Sunday June 19th.

Division 3 will again be a Handicap section.

Coming Events in the District.


15th May GVDGA Mixed YANKEE (not Foursomes) Championship at Rich River  - entry form

A Yankee is also known as Pinehurst - both players hit off, swap over and hit each others golf ball, then take the best ball and continue playing in alternate hits.   Handicaps will be 3/8 of the combined.

2016 Mixed Yankee Championship - Rich River Golf Club

The GVDGA Mixed Yankee Championship will be conducted at rich River on Sunday May 15th.

The event incorporates the George Cronyn Memorial Trophy and will have scratch and handicapped events running in conjunction with the main trophy.

Entry is $30/pair with trophies also for Runners Up and Nearest the Pin for men and ladies.

This year the Winter Pennant will start the weekend after the Queens Birthday long weekend, on the 19th of June.


The finals will now be held at Hill Top on the 24th July.

2016 Gray Barton Trophy - Nathalia Golf Club 24th April

New Date and Time for this event!!!!!!

Due to a clash with another event on the 17th, this event has been deferred by one week.

This year the Gray Barton Trophy involving teams of 4 will be held at the Nathalia Golf Club. 
This is the 50th year this trophy has been played for.

10.00am assembly for 10.30am shotgun start.
The format is 4 ball Aggregate Stableford, with an individual event in grades also on the day.
A BBQ will be available for players to purchase food on the day.
Entry is $60 per team.


Kyle Michel takes out Country Championships

Kyle Michel takes out back to back Victorian Country Championships.

In one of the most picturesque settings for a golf course Bright Country Golf Club is a pleasure to visit.

Players arrived at the club this morning for the final round of the Victorian Country Championships and Victorian Junior Country Regions and where greeted with bacon and egg rolls, coffee and juice.

The Victorian Men’s Country Championships went to Shepparton Golf Clubs Kyle Michel who continued his great form with a 2 under par 70 which included four birdies in a row on holes 13 to 16.

Successfully defending his 2015 title Michel finished at 5 under par for the tournament with Nathan Schneider from Beechworth Golf Club finishing 2nd with even par.

Monster let loose in Cobram


The Annual Monster Bash at Cobram Barooga Golf Club is on again.

The event will be held on Australia Day, 26th January, with two shotgun starts.
The first will be at 7.30am and the afternoon field will hit off at 12.30pm.
$15 entry fee and a sausage sizzle will be wafting over the tees.

Over $1,000 in prize money, and yo uwill be playing the composite course of front 9 old and front 9 west courses.
