Peter Jeffery wins 2010 GVDGA Sandgreen Championship

 Monday, August 02, 2010

Peter Jeffery from Cosgrove GC has taken out the 2010 GVDGA Sandgreen Championship in testing conditions at the Cosgrove GC yesterday.  With heavy rain hitting the area in the predceeding 24 hours the course played extremely tough and thanks must go to the 34 players who braved the elements.

Peter's scratch score of 76 was four clear of Tim Watson (Shepparton) and David Cartwright (Ky Parkland).

Thanks must go to the Cosgrove GC who as usual put on a fantastic day with many players simply finishing their rounds anticipating the legendary feast which awaits players on their return.

The next GV event is the GVDGA Championship to be held at Cobram Barooga GC on Sunday 29th August.

Pennant Race goes to the wire

 Tuesday, July 13, 2010

With the last round of the 2010 pennant season upon us there are numerous connotations in all divisions to decide this year's finalists.

Division 1 sees only Mooroopna assured of a finals berth with Rich River and Numurkah fighting for the final position.  Rich River plays Mooroopna and Numurkah plays last year winner Shepparton.  A win to Rich River will see them automatically in the final, however a loss and a win to Numurkah will see Numurkah reach the final.

Division 2 sees Rich River only needing to claim one individual game to reach the finals in their match against Cobram Barooga.  Shepparton and Cobram Barooga both need a win to have any chance of making the final and then it could come down to individual matches.

Division 3 sees Shepparton assured of a finals berth thanks to three 3/2 wins thus far.  Hill Top need to win at least 2 individual matches to progress to the final as Rich River who currently sits in 2nd position 1 match clear has the bye in the last round.

Division 4 sees Rich River assured of a finals berth.  Mooroopna, Nagambie and Valley View are the only sides still capable of making the final.  If Valley View beats bottom side Merrigum they are assure of a finals position.

Division 5 sees Ky Parkland assured of making the final.  Cobram Barooga and Numurkah are the only sides capable of meeting Ky Parkland in the final.

Division 6 has seen some very close matches throughout the year with 5 of the 6 teams still capable of making the final.  The loser of Nagambie & Kialla is out of the finals race, Shepparton must beat Numurkah at least 4/1 to have any chance of progressing and Mooroopna must beat Tocumwal.  Individual matches are more than likeluy going to decide this division.
