2018 George Cronyn Memorial and GMGA Mixed Foursomes Championship Results

Numurkah Golfers Dominate District Event

One Sunday, at Mooroopna Golf Club players from all over the local district played the annual Mixed American Foursomes event.  In the prestigious handicap event where the field contested the George Cronyn Memorial Trophy, named after George who was a district President and a great advocate of Mixed events, Numurkah pair Nola and Allan Dalton won with a net score of 69.2.  Runners up were Deb Greenwood and Denis Koik from Mooroopna Golf Club with a net score of 70.1.

In the scratch event another Numurkah player Tracey Clouston teamed with Lincoln Ferrari from Shepparton Golf Club; a workplace pairing with Tracey working at Drummond Golf which is owned by Lincoln.

The pair returned a scratch score of 76 to take the trophy which has been played for since 1968.  Look for the well-polished silver cup on display in the Drummonds Golf store for the next few weeks.  Runners up to Tracey and Lincoln were Frank and Sue McIntyre from Mooroopna Golf Club with a scratch score of 82.
Nearest the pins went to Sue Jenkinson and Mark Bamford on the seventh and Jan Coe and Denis Koik on the tenth.  Balls down the line going to Noelene King and Grant Stewart from Rich River, Sandy Millet and Michael Johnson from Mooroopna, Lyn and John Fanning from Hill Top Tatura, Ros Seymour and Alex Howson GMGA Secretary and Treasurer Sue and Keith Jenkinson and Jill and Oke McAuliffe from Mooroopna and the final balls going to GMGA Captains Annie Beveridge and Graeme Stevens
Thanks must go to Mooroopna Golf Club for holding the event and their staff for their help with a special thanks to Ashley and Reanna in the pro shop for their help and assistance.  The day was another step forward for improved activity for Goulburn Murray District Golf.
